1. Companies House — exact name from the quote. Age over 3 years, filings current. 2. Director history — prior dissolved building companies = walk away or pay in tiny stages. 3. For kitchen fitting specifically: ask which building-control body will inspect (extensions/lofts), and which certifications the work produces — see checking a builder. Then verify what they told you. 4. Contract note: fixed quote, staged payments, 5–10% retention.
